Review: FreeCycle.org

FreeCycle.org is a website/community a network if you will of people who want to do something good with the things they might normally just toss in the trash or try to get a quarter for at their next yard sale.

The website... well leaves a little to be desired but the mission is certainly a good one. The home page is really a gateway to finding you local FreeCycle Group. Once you find one near you, you simply sign-up with the Yahoo group and start getting the posts. One thing that can be confusing at first with trying to figure out what is being offered and what is already taken. With all the "Offer" posts and the "PPU" (pending pick up) posts and the "Taken" posts... you can get excited and then disappointed quickly once you find out that the person offering the slightly used love seat is already taken. Bummer! Not to worry though, there will be more where that comes from.

What do I say? I say, check it out! It's a really cool idea for those earth friendly people who would rather give something away that might be useful to someone else instead of adding it to the massive overflow of trash and waste that only adds to the problem of overcrowded landfills. It's free and the stuff is free, you can't beat it!
